Myths of Natural African Hair

When it comes to having natural hair there are some myths and misconceptions we are un aware of as  Africans. After doing some research, you will realize that not everything you were told about maintaining your natural hair was true. And here are some straight points of the false myths.


  1. Natural hair is very strong
  2. Natural hair can't be combed
  3. Products are only made for black or white hair
  4. Natural hair is only for "political soul sisters"
  5. "Petroleum" and "Mineral" oil are good for natural hair (they are found in black hair products)
  6. Natural hair can't grow long
  7. Natural hair is difficult and unmanageable.
  8. Relaxers promote growth and make hair more manageable.
  9. Trimming makes natural hair grow
  10. You shouldn't wash Natural hair too often
  11. Water will dry out natural hair
