I am not a Christian but a follower of Christ

"Are you a Christian?" Many christians have asked me this question. "Joy, are you a Christian?" That question used to annoy me a lot because it made me feel like i was doing something wrong in my life though at that time i would say yes. And now, for me, at this stage in my life its no unfortunately. It sucks right? I know....i know. But truth be told, Christianity was not meant to be a religion, it was meant to be a relationship with God. But with the "christians" of today, its sort of like a religion. It has become so bad that i feel some churches are beginning to misinterpret the bible sometimes. A pastor would quote something from the bible and explain it the way the world sees it. Not realizing that the world is an enemy of God! And then there's whole thing of not allowing prostitutes of coming to church yet Jesus accepted a prostitute over a religious man(a righteous man who sinned less!). Like there is literally a specific dress code for church!!! Like really? This is God we are talking about! The one who created us naked in the first place. The one who is everywhere in our lives and sees everything we do. The good and the bad. The one who watches you stealing money, masterbating quietly in that room, watching porn, committing adultery etc. And people have a problem with the dress code!

See...here's why I'm not a big fan of church. Church is about looking good, church makes you feel like you should be ashamed of what you have done, church makes you put on a mask (hypocritical). All this....I am pretty sure Jesus would not like. Jesus wants us to boast in our weaknesses because he came for the sinners not "righteous". If you read the bible well, you will realize that the Pharisees did not like Jesus because they were being hypocritical by watching his every move and judging people instead of learning to accept people for who they are. They were pointing out peoples faults for being worse than them without even realizing that they have also made their own mistakes too. Imagine! They even judged Jesus for being a drunkard (since he turned water into wine)! I mean...really? Im not gonna lie, its really hard to accept everyone in the world for who they are and thats what I'm battling with in my everyday life but you live and you learn. Acceptance does not require an expectation of change. Only God can change people.

The truth is you can't be a follower of Christ and a Christian at the same time. Being a Christian makes you follow rules in favor of God (which is not the best way honestly) while being a follower of Christ makes Jesus your friend, teacher and savior. Basically what i am trying to say is that trying to be as good as possible in order to save yourself makes you lose faith in Christ who has ALREADY SAVED you. So I'm that weird believer who believes that Jesus Christ died for the sins i have committed and will commit in future. The truth is you will never be perfect, you will never be sinless but you will always be imperfectly perfect through BELIEVING Jesus Christ. BELIEVING IS KEY! FAITH IS KEY!

Remember the story about the 2 prodigal sons? One son decided to stay home and be a good boy while the other was rebellious and left to face the world. When the rebellious son got tired of sinning, he eventually came back home. And received a surprise welcome back home from his dad. He got his reward! The good son was jealous and hurt because he remained a good servant to his father. You see...thats the problem with so many people of today. They are so scared of making mistakes because they think they will never ever get tired of them. They think God will reject them when they turn back to him. They prefer to be "as good as possible" to gain favor from God. Not realizing that trying to be "as good as possible" is not genuine since it is not from the heart. Even when you die a sinner/rebellious, God will not judge you based on what you have done but will judge you based on your intentions(from the heart). The heart is deeper than you think. Even no man can read it as well as God. Yes it is true, God hates an intentional sinner but what if your intentions for sinning, is to grow in faith? This is why I am not a Christian but a follower of Christ
